We can't believe we're almost in the Summer term - although the weather certainly seems to think so! A bit of a round up of this half term before we get into another busy one after Easter. A reminder that everything we do is for the benefit of our wonderful school and most importantly our amazing children so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible support, appreciation, kind words and involvement in everything we do. We are so lucky to have such a brilliant and supportive parent community.
Have a lovely holiday and see you next term!
A huge thank you to our wonderful gift shop team who put together a beautiful gift shop for Mother's Day
We'd like to start by thanking the gift shop team for everything they do - 3 times a year - to put on an amazing shopping experience for our children. There is so much effort and planning that goes into this event - sourcing and buying gifts, wrapping, organising volunteers and turning up to help the children on the day. It's an event all the children love and with a clear aim to provide a great experience for our school children, a chance for them to be independent and to treat their families. I'm sure all our families will join us in saying we appreciate your efforts so much... and can't wait to see what the shop looks like for Father's Day!
Claverdon School Disco returns!
As we announced yesterday, the Claverdon School Disco will return on Thursday 22nd May! Tickets information will follow shortly - for now pop the date in your diary and please sign up to help on the day if you can. We still need volunteers in various roles - in particularly for the KS2 session. Thank you!
New RE books to supplement current RE resources
As part of an ongoing project led by Mrs White to develop the RE resources in school, we were pleased to fund the purchase of a set of new RE books for the school. These books - all part of the 'Belonging and Believing' range - will predominantly be utilised by the Reception and Key Stage 1 classes but available to access by the whole school. Also funded are a set of supplementary introductory videos which will allow the school to fully utilise the resources and to bring the books to life in the classroom. These resources are recommended by SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Eduction) and often referenced in the scheme of work delivered in the classroom.

Bag2School and Easyfundraising raises almost £100 this half term
In the interest of full transparency with our parent community, a mix-up between 2 collections scheduled for the same day resulted in another charity collecting the items meant for Bag2School. After much communication the charity very kindly donated £70 to Friends of Claverdon for the mis-collected bags. This was likely over double what the school would have received and we have expressed our sincere gratitude to the charity for this kind gesture who stated that they have introduced additional checks for collection drivers to make sure this mistake doesn't happen again. The next Bag2School collection will be on Tuesday 17th June.

As you may be aware, over the last year - with a view to maximising (mainly people) resources - we have changed the way Friends of Claverdon functions. While all parents, carers and staff are involved in the organising and runnning of specific events, there is a core steering group who are responsible for looking at the bigger picture and coordinating the various organisational groups, communications and budgets.
We now need to look at future proofing and ensuring Friends of Claverdon always has a team of volunteers who can ensure ongoing funding for our school. We would welcome anyone who would like to have a conversation about getting involved in any of these responsibilities. Everyone - no matter whether you have experience or specific 'skills' - is welcome. Please get in touch with us for more information.
