Claverdon Primary School's Solar Panels
We're delighted that solar panels have now been installed at Claverdon Primary School.

The installation brings sustainability to life for our pupils, who can track real-time energy generation through a dedicated app. This hands-on learning opportunity helps children understand renewable energy and environmental stewardship in a meaningful way. The panels will reduce the school's carbon emissions by approximately 3.5 tonnes annually—equivalent to planting 160 trees each year—representing a significant step forward in the school’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
In total, 60 solar panels have been installed on the school roof. These are expected to save us around £3,600 each year, amounting to approximately £115,000 over the lifetime of the system. Since our school's budget from Warwickshire County Council must cover both energy bills and all other school expenses, reducing our electricity costs means we can redirect these funds straight into enriching resources and opportunities for our pupils. The panels will also reduce our carbon emissions by around 3.5 tonnes annually.
This has been made possible through a true community effort: school funds (restricted for projects of this kind) provided approximately half the total cost, grant funding of £3,850 was secured from the Garfield Weston Foundation, William A Cadbury Charitable Trust, and Flicks in the Sticks, and the remainder was raised through our community events and activities.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this sustainable future for Claverdon Primary School possible.
