Wishing everyone a lovely Summer break and sending those leaving lots of luck in their new adventures.

Wow, what a year it's been. There have been (a lot of) highs and (some) lows - but we are SO proud of our school community and our Claverdon families for how we always pull together and support each other, our school and our amazing children.

This time of year is unfortunately always full of goodbyes and it goes without saying that we will miss everyone leaving so much, but we wish you the best of luck in your new adventures. To all the departing Year 6 children and families - we know you'll all be amazing at your new schools and we thank you for your support and contribution to Friends of Claverdon over the last 7 years.

And to Mr Tyler and Mrs White - thank you for everything you've done to support our children during your time at Claverdon, and for your support of Friends of Claverdon too. We know you're both going to be amazing in your new ventures. You've had such a huge impact on our children and are leaving them with so many happy memories of you both.

On behalf of all of our families we'd like to say a big thank you to all the teachers and staff at our school who work tirelessly every year to support our children, not just with their learning, but to be happier, more confident children who aim to be the best version of themselves. We appreciate you all so much.

We wish everyone in our school community a very happy, peaceful Summer holiday and look forward to seeing you all in September when we will be welcoming our new reception children and families to our school. We can't wait to show them how amazing how school and community are!

Can you spare time to get involved?

We've spoken previously about future proofing the Friends of Claverdon and we are now looking at people to get involved in all areas - but specifically from September we need someone to come on board and help with communications and events planning. If this is something you may be able to help with please drop us a message. We are more than arrange a chat if you'd like to find out more.

This year we've raised almost £4,500 for our school!

Starting with the Fun Run in September last year we had an amazing year of fundraising at our school. Thank you so much to everyone who helped organise an event, volunteered and turned up to support. Here are some of the ways we raised money throughout the year:

Other projects supported by Friends of Claverdon and our community

Bringing solar panels to our school
ree

This project is progressing and we are hopefully in the final stages of seeking sign-off from Warwickshire County Council.  We have also been successful in being awarded a grant of £3000 towards the solar panels from Garfield Weston, this is in addition to £750 from the William A Cadbury Charitable Trust, and £100 pledged by Flix in the Sticks. This project will be jointly financed by Claverdon Primary School and Friends of Claverdon.

Garden maintenance

The school gardens continue to be maintained by our school garden team and we look forward to seeing the garden flourish in the next year.

Lunchtime parent supervisors

A huge thank you to all our amazing lunchtime supervisors who give up their time to come and support our school and children during their lunch hour. We know how much the school and the children appreciate you all!

The Claverdon Fun Run returns for 2025!

Hopefully everyone has seen the comms that the Claverdon Fun Run will be returning in September - bigger and better! This year we have a NEW 5km event, plus we've also made the toddler dash longer and FREE. Also new for this year we have branded t-shirts. You can purchase a ticket option with a t-shirt at checkout or separately via the website. In order for us to effectively plan this event we encourage everyone who is attending to purchase tickets as soon as possible.

Wren Teas

Something new for next year - Friends of Claverdon will be hosting Sunday Tea at Wren Hall near Hatton. This event is hosted by a different charity each time with a team of volunteers bake the cakes and run the event. The hall is dressed with pretty blue checked tablecloths and fresh flowers which creates a lovely atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy tea and cake. More information on how you can get involved to follow soon!

Wreath Making at Christmas

We're also pleased to announce that this Christmas we will be hosting a wreath making evening with a former florist to raise money for our school. Date to be announced very soon.
